The dreaded shade selection. There is nothing more unsettling for me than buying a foundation online without testing the shade in person prior to purchase!

Il Makiage offers an online shade matching quiz to select your best shade. I’ll admit, I was skeptical. This quiz did not require me to send any pictures, it was purely a Q&A format that took a few minutes to complete.

I was matched with shade 60. To my surprise, upon my first application the foundation actually matched my skin really well! If you are on the fence about which shade to get, give the quiz a try!

I personally think Woke Up Like This feels slightly heavy on my skin. This is something I am highly sensitive to as I typically wear a lightweight loose powder foundation, therefore it stood out to me with this foundation. You may have less sensitivity to foundation weight.

The coverage worked very well to conceal the pink areas around my nose and on my cheeks.

To give you a better image of coverage, below is a before and after of the foundation when applied to my hand. I have prominent blue veins on my hands and the foundation coverage here was very impressive, making the veins nearly identical to my  true skin tone!
